This breed needs early, firm obedience training. Irish Terriers are not a good choice for a home with other pets. Irish Terriers are friendly, devoted, and protective with their people, and should be well-socialized as puppies. This breed likes to chase and dig. Irish Terriers can live in an apartment or a home with a small yard, and if they get enough exercise they generally behave quite well indoors.

The Irish Terrier breed is about 2,000 years old. The Tramp in Lady and the Tramp is supposed to resemble an Irish Terrier.
